Coins

While at the family compound, we jimmied open my older brother’s coin box. He was a collector in his long-ago youth. Actually, about every ten years, we race around trying to remember where the damn key is kept, then we look through the metal. It's mostly scrap, but there are some curiosities. Like this:

I was struck how they changed the design on these dollar coins. In ’21, Miss Liberty is looking a mite Victorian, if not neoclassical French. A couple of years later, though, she has had a Art Deco make-over. Liberty bobs her hair, like Scott Fitzgerald’s Bernice.
Note that they’ve also slapped "God" on the coin, probably to keep an eye on that wild flapper.
