There were at least nine little ones poking and lolling about the wall Sunday morning, soaking up some sun after the previous day’s constant rain. Some where very shy, other's bold as brass. The youngsters were about a foot long. I gently picked one up, let it wrap its tail around my wrist. I'd forgotten how dry and smooth the skin is, how incredibly muscular a snake feels.
