Nuts and Mast

Turkish filberts.
Yellow buckeyes.
Turkey oak.

The BBG was overflowing with late summer ripening. Cue loverboy John Keats. Pecans and walnuts, of various kinds, were also littering the ground, with many a toothmark.

I love wild nuts. No, literally. The designs, the compactness of them, the foodstuffiness. As a kid, I used to hoard them around the garden in caches; it was my favorite solo game, called "nesting." These great photos brought it back!
