Warbler warbling

In Central Park for a change. Saw these new-for-the-year birds: Field sparrow, Wood thrush, Veery, Black-throated blue warbler, House wren, Baltimore oriole, Magnolia warbler, Ovenbird, and Chimney swift. Latest year to date species total: 116. Read the 'net listings when I got home, saw I’d missed a Hooded, Worm-eating, and Cape May in Prospect. Oy! For god’s sake, people, it’s warbler madness, a frenzy of little (mostly yellowy) flittery birds high up in the canopy or low down in the leaf litter, buzzing away with their songs as they scarf up bugs, and staining necks of birders up and down the coast. When is there time to eat? Sleep? Work? Blog?
