These seem to be milkweed borers, Tetraopes femoratus:
Bayberry, a sentimental favorite:
Like shooting butterflies on a butterfly bush. I'm not positive on the ID for this one:
Well, it is a saltmarsh:
The cicada wasp:
"I celebrate myself, and sing myself,/And what I assume you shall assume,/For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.//I loafe and invite my soul,/I lean and loafe at my ease observing a spear of summer grass."

They are all beautiful but the marsh landscape, the one you seem to apolgize for, is my favorite. Medicine for my eyes.
More please.
Thanks for the great photos. If you want butterflies, I found a good place today...the first plateau on Lookout Hill in Prospect Park has a wildflower meadow. I saw a ton of gorgeous butterflies there today, and many different kinds! I'm glad enjpyed the salt marsh.
The Audobon Center in the Boathouse used to have handouts to help i.d. butterflies on Lookout Hill. In wonder if they still do?
