I thought that I like this photo. What are black things?
These are called floats. You probably know about the glass floats made in Japan, which are used to hold up fishing nets in the Pacific. In the North Atlantic, fishers used to use metal ones like these. One of these I found on Iceland, the other on Nantucket Island.
