Park birds
A walk through Prospect yesterday morning with the BBC. Black ice and mud on the still snowy paths. Some grackles overhead, early migrants, and red-winged blackbirds, already calling from the reeds, both foretelling the arrival of spring. Red-tailed hawks boinking at Battle Pass confirming it. In addition to the regulars, we also saw a hermit thrust, a couple of fox sparrows, and a female towhee. One of the lately-regular merlins was in the Nethermead keeping an eye on the joggers. Bold little raptor.
