Brooklyn/Queens border birds
Interrupting a continuous series of postings about our Philly weekend, this dispatch from Fort Tilden and Dead Horse Bay: come on in, the winter birding is excellent. American wigeon, long-tailed duck, horned grebe, common loon, peregrine falcon, and canvasback all added to this year's list. The falcon was on the south tower of the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, where a pair traditionally nest. The canvasback was amidst a huge flotilla of greater scaup in Dead Horse Bay.

This sandwich will be my lunch.
That's a hell of a lot of duck fat for one meal.
