Early October, Prospect Park




A month or two ago, I ran into some folks who were about half way through re-doing the lettering on the backside of the Maryland Monument. Time and thieves had taken the earlier bronze letters away. Let's hope these stick around.
Some kind of dwarf buckeye they seem to be planting now in the park. Really a bush, but its fruits are as big as a giant old buckeye tree. The conkers are orange-yellowy, though, not the mahogany red of the big trees or, for that matter, the horsechestnut.
