Webster's cuts

My sweetie gave me a copy of Pictorial Webster’s; A Visual Dictionary of Curiosities, which features more than 1500 engravings from 19th century editions of Webster’s dictionary. Original wood blocks and metal electrotypes, given to Yale University by the bucketful by the Merriam-Webster Co., were restored, cleaned, and reprinted for this work by bookman John M. Carrera. Very cool. Among other things, it's a Surrealist delight.

These are neat engravings. I especially like the horseshoe crab.

I think the horseshoe would make a good tattoo.
