AMNH

To the American Museum of Natural History for Valentine's Day. This is a diorama of upstate in the fall.
Kestrels, stuffed. Without a telephoto, probably the best shot I'll ever get of them. Falcon (female) on the left, tiercel (male) on the right. (These are roughly blue jay sized.) Around the corner from the Hall of North American Birds, there's a section on NY state mammals and birds and it's in very bad shape. OHS didn't like the mammals section because it looked like a furrier's, the fur just hanging down from the wall. And the NY birds are "skins" as they say in the trade, looking quite dead. Lacking that certain elan....
