"This morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas.

How he got in my pajamas I don’t know.” Groucho Marx, best of all Marxists.

I, meanwhile, found this handsome beast on Bergen St. in Sunday night’s garbage. The matte was foxed and the glass was broken, but the animal herself was in fine shape. Print adoption being a rather free-for-all affair, I bought her home. She is temporarily enjoying my couch and snacking on the neighbor's bamboo thicket while I find her a new home.

I love elephants. They are intelligent and sensitive creatures. My cousin wrote an article for NYT Magazine awhile back, covering a story about how the elephants are in revolt against humans over their mistreatment - evidently they aren't putting up with the abuse anymore.

Fighting for their rights!

Sometimes I feel like the whole planet is revolting against humans, like antibodies attacking a disease.
