Prospect Park Part I

Back to the park today because it wasn’t supposed to be such a good day and we made no plans to strike further afield. But what a day! Some unexpected ducklings, covered in duckweed.
A football sized bald-faced hornet nest right above the path.
This a spined micrathena, and for a while we thought the spiky abdomen was breakfast, but then we noticed that it was spinning its web from there. Freaky!
And this is some kind of orb-weaver, working on brunch. Doesn’t that look like a small fish head? This was about seven feet up, though, and I don’t believe we have flying fish in the park.
Our old friend, the honey bee. The sisters were working the water lilies in the Lullwater.

I never find the ducks at Prospect Park when I go there. I have walked around the water and I never see them.

About 10 years ago, I saw a grey goose there and he was so beautiful. I went there and brought a lot of food for several days. Eventually the goose got to know me and even let me pet him
