Added Value Farm & Erie Basin

The pollinators were hard at work at the Added Value farm in Red Hook today.
Behind the large blue box store named after the Swedish word for "flimsy" is the northern end of the Erie Basin, revealed at last.

Common tern. Also seen were mallard, cormorant, blackbacked gull, herring gull, barn swallow, black crowned night heron, great egret, an unknown sandpiper. Also lion's mane jellyfish. Plenty more pictures here.

Eristalis tenax. An invasive. Thanks for the ID.

Invasive, yeah, but a cool camouflager...

Not camouflage--I meant mimicry. Got my French mixed up with my mime!

French mimes? You're scaring me here...
