Sat, Part II

In the afternoon, I met with T to go to Green-Wood Cemetery for a site-specific dance performance, Angels and Accordions, that entailed a good number of women in white flitting among the graves.
It started out broilingly hot, but once under the shade of the old trees, it got much better. The catacombs were open, which was a highlight. A couple of angles were singing “Somewhere over the rainbow” underneath a weeping beech. That’s an awfully sweet song when done like a folk tune.
There were lots of accordions. And accordion players. T thought that the ghost of Fellini was surely hovering over us. You can’t tell in this perfectly unfocused image, but the one on the left was stunningly beautiful, the one in the middle fantastically cute, and the one on the right had this great lipstick situation going on. I mean, a raven-haired beauty in top hat playing an accordion. It's a good thing I was in the cemetery, because it was like I'd died and gone to heaven:
