Fast against the war

Faithless, I nonetheless fasted against the war today, sunrise to sunset, nothing but water. Broke the fast with black rice, green beans, and a chickpea curry. Clarity of mind, not to mention a certain fanaticism: on the train back from Stamford, standing room only, I looked over a shoulder to see a laptop with a marketing plan for Sotheby’s MasterCard; standing next to me were little puppies of capitalist cannon fodder reading “Trends in Real Estate” and glossy USB (Swiss originally, right? hence dripping with the blood of Europe’s slaughtered) brochures. I wanted to scream: what a waste of lives! Not to mention, what am I doing here? But I kept calm. Serene even.
