Snapper

This snapping turtle was enormous, with its shell alone over a foot long from stem to stern. It had been sitting half submerged for a while, hence the white baked mud on its shell. For a moment, I thought it might be an ex-turtle, but it's head tucked in and it retreated into the murk.
